Temperence River State Park MNAt only 539 acres, Temperance River State Park may be small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in raw, untamed beauty. You can travel Northern Minnesota to the Temperance River State Park to enjoy the hiking trails, do some bird watching, picnic by the river, or camp at one of the many smaller campsites. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted at a park office, where you can pick up a map of the park to use during your stay.Fur traders were the first white settlers to make posts in this area, and they saw that because the river was so strong flowing into Lake Superior that there was no usual build up of debris at the mouth of the river, which is called a ?bar.? What else would you jokingly call a river with no bar but Temperance? Today, most of the land in Temperance River State Park remains the same as it was when these first explorers arrived, and you can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and wildlife as it has been living for thousands of years. |
