During the summer months, you can visit Split Rock State Park to stay at one of their campsites by the shore of Lake Superior and do some fishing along the water.Split Rock State Park also features a beautiful lighthouse, which was built in 1909 after a storm claimed seven ships. The lighthouse was in working condition until 1971, when it became a historical site, and is now one of the most photographed lighthouses in the United States due to its pretty location and architecture. After you visit the lighthouse, you can hike along the coastline on one of the scenic trails to view the plant and animal life, as well as the waterfalls in the area. |
