Coho and Chinook salmon are the most popular for anglers, but the smaller Pink Salmon is gaining in popularity. Salmon fishing on the North Shore runs from early spring until October, with the best fishing times when the water is between 53 to 57 degrees. Minnesota?s most famous fish, the Walleye and the Northern Pike, are the favorite of summertime anglers. These can be fished from the shore itself, as both species prefer shallow, warm water. Resident and Non-resident licenses are available at most tackle shops and convenience stores, as well as through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
