Hunting the North Shore of MinnesotaAlthough animals are protected in the state park areas of the North Shore of Minnesota, many opportunities abound for hunters looking for that next trophy. Moose and Black Bear are both plentiful around the North Shore. These two species are the most popular animals for the avid hunter. The North Shore was once home to both the Caribou and wolverines, but now they are only found in Canada. Timberwolves are abundant in the area, yet mountain lions and lynx are rare in the state. Rabbit, hare, and other small furbearers are abundant and are often trapped for both their meat and fur. Deer and small game can also be found in the area. While the deer found in the North Shore area are smaller than their cousins further south in Minnesota, the pursuit of the ?white tale? is a popular sport for both gun and bow hunters. Minnesota does require a license and all hunting must be done during designated seasons. In some cases, a special stamp may be required for certain species of animal. Licenses are available for Minnesota residents and for out of state guests. The North Shore of Minnesota offers everything the modern hunter could want in any region. By following the hunting seasons, every hunter can more than satisfy his tastebuds for wild game meat. |
