Fishing in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota

If you?re looking for a new place to go for some of the best freshwater fishing in the country, you only need to look towards Minnesota. On the northeast cusp of the land, between the United States and Canada, lies a pristine area of nature known as the Boundary Waters. This series of waterways is home to plenty of lakes and rivers, so you?ll never have a problem choosing a place to fit any particular desire you may have when you wake up in the morning.

There are plenty of chances to land that award-winning game fish, or a fresh meal to take back home with you. Some of the game species in the area include walleye, northern pike, both large and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, whitefish, and lake trout. These are only the beginning, though, there are other fish that make their home in the Boundary Waters and are just waiting to be caught.

If you want to camp in the Boundary Waters region while you do your fishing, It would be smart bring a canoe and a collapsible fishing rod. Many of the camp sites are only accessible by water, and fishing in a canoe can get you out in the deep waters, where the big fish live. A collapsible fishing rod makes it much easier to carry if any long hikes to a lake are involved.
